Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. (Phil. 2:5-7)
As I was getting ready to retire late one evening, a group of friends hanging out with my step-son, sent my step-son as an emissary to request, of all things, pancakes!!!
Now, in my orthodoxy of pancakes, they are to be a breakfast food that is eaten in the morning, and not at midnight (which I guess is technically morning, but I digress).
Being incredulous to the suggestion of pancakes at that time of night, I responded with an immediate and definitive “No“.
Dejected, I’m sure, their emissary returned with the bad news – no pancakes.
After reflecting on what had just transpired, I quickly came to the realization that I failed to mirror Christ to them – so being aware of life’s brevity, I became the servant that Christ himself embodied, and would have me to be,
and made them pancakes.
